A business profile in Whereabouts is your centralized platform to manage and update the information you share with your Destination Marketing Organization (DMO). This information is crucial as it is used by your DMO to populate your business listing on their website and in various sections such as upcoming events, itineraries, or blog posts.
If you manage multiple businesses, you'll have a separate business profile for each one in your Directory app.
Fields in Your Business Profile
Here’s a breakdown of the fields you’ll encounter in your business profile and what they mean:
Business Information
- Business Name: The name of your business.
- Website: The URL to your business’s website.
- Phone: The phone number customers can use to contact you. If you don't have a phone number, enter 0.
- Email: The email address for customer inquiries.
- Search by Business Name or Address: Enter your business name or location to help users find you easily.
- Description: Write an inviting and detailed description of your business.
- Short Description: A concise version of your description, ideal for search results and SEO. You can also use the "Auto-generate with AI" tool to create a shorter version of your main description.
License and Tags
- STA License Status: If you are a short-term accommodation provider, enter your license number here.
- Tags: Choose relevant categories for your business such as business type, accreditations, region, pricing, and more. These tags help your DMO accurately categorize your business on their site.
Social and Operational Details
- Social Links: Enter your social media links (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok). These will be displayed as social buttons on your DMO site listing.
- Seasonality: Specify the months you are busiest, slowest, or closed. This helps your DMO plan the best times to direct traffic to your business.
- Hours of Operation: Indicate the days and hours your business is open or if it operates 24/7. This will inform customers of your availability on the DMO website.
Media
Under the "Media" tab, you can upload photos relevant to your business that you're comfortable sharing with your DMO. Here’s what you can do:
- Photo Upload: Add photos showcasing your business.
- Drag and Drop: Arrange the photos in your preferred order, with the first image ideally being the most representative of your business.
- Captions: Add captions to improve accessibility for users with low vision.
By keeping your business profile updated, you ensure that your DMO has the most current and accurate information to effectively market your business to potential customers.
